WATKIN'S SHEET METAL NARROW ARROW LAZY PLATE GALVANIZED - ANTIQUE BARBED WIRE

Description

This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a William Watkins patent, dated November 21, 1876.  This wire is called "Watkins Four Point Narrow Arrow Lazy Point Sheet Metal Barb - All Galvanized" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 731-B).  This wire features two round line wires twisted together.  Barbs are four pointed made from an arrowhead shaped metal plate, laid horizontal and twisted between the line wires. Plates are 1/4" in width.  Wire sample shows very light pitting.  Sample is 18" in length. There are three barbs.  Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered.   There are no broken or missing barbing points.
