    Description

    Vintage late 1950’s, early 1960's Gibson Brown Pink Hardshell Hard Guitar Case
    Case DOES NOT include the guitar pictured (1959 Gibson J-160e), this listing is for the empty Case only – Guitar is pictured to show what a nice fit this Case is
    This Case is from the later 1950’s vintage and still sold with guitars through 1962 (John and George of the Beatles 1962 J-160e guitar came in a Case just like this Case), 1962 would have been the last year for this Case (Black and Yellow/Gold after 1962)
    To think... way back in those days, Hard Cases could cost approximately an additional 40% of what a guitar cost, that is why most guitars did not get Hardshell Cases
    This type Case was made for and shared by many Gibson model guitars - Acoustic, Electric, and Archtop - for example:  Gibson J-45, J-50, SJN Country-Western, J-160e, Southern Jumbo, L-48, and many ES models, for example: ES-175, ES-150, etc..  Basically, it is for most Gibson 16 1/4 inch Full Bodied models.
    YES - all these different models used the SAME Case.  Many people are led to believe there were different model Cases depending on whether Acoustic Flat-Top, Electric, or Archtop, but they all used the same model Case across the different (16 1/4” Bodied) guitar Models, and all the HARD Cases did have the Arched Top and Back (the reason for the Arches, was for structural reinforcement - not so much for the reason that Archtop Guitars have an Arched Top; and let us not forget that Gibson Acoustic Flat-Top guitars have slight Arches to their Top and Back)
    From having recently stored my old vintage Gibson J-160e in this Case, there are slight impressions on the Interior Material from Vol/Tone Knobs and Jack (see interior Photo's)
    Nice and Light Weight, yet very Sturdy
    This model of Case was often called the “Faultless” Case in Vintage Gibson Catalogs
    Most likely made by Lifton for Gibson - there is no Lifton brand name anywhere on the Case, though it does resemble the Cases manufactured by Lifton
    Please see all Interior Dimensions (below) to confirm this Case will be a proper fit for your guitar
    No unusual odor inside or out
    Structurally really good condition, good and strong
    All Latches and Hinges work fine.  No missing or damaged Hardware.
    It appears the edge of the Lid (at the bottom area) had separated some and was re-glued - see photo
    Please see all photo's for overall condition
    Please look over all the pictures carefully and zoom in if necessary so you can thoroughly understand the condition of the case. This Case is around 60 years old so it is not going to be mint condition and perfect - it is a used item. Though probably in better shape than you will find most Vintage Guitar Cases to be in.
    It is a good Case.  They are RARE and not easy to come by…
    Case Interior dimensions - all shown as Inch dimensions (Close Approximate - there is no being precise with the Interior being Padded)
    Length = 42”
    Upper Bout = 12 1/2"
    Lower Bout = 16  1/2”
    Depth = 4  3/8”
    Lid Depth = 1”
    SHIPPING:
    Shipping prices have gone through the roof - I cannot help the price of shipping LARGE boxes - It is what it is
    For those who may not understand the cost of shipping, please understand that Shipping Weight on LARGE  packages is not based on Actual Weight, but is based on Dimensional Weight
    For more information on Dimensional Weight, just Google:  Dimensional Weight: How It Works and How to Cut Costs
    Dimensional Weight on this item (with Packaging) is:  59
    FedEx shipping - I ONLY ship by FedEx, because their Packing Rate is the least expensive, and if there is an Insurance claim, they are the best to deal with
    It requires a very large box: 51" x 20" x 8" (Guitar box provided by FedEx)
    Packing by FedEx.  . is their fee for this, and includes the cost(s) of the Box, packing materials, and Labor to pack - I think it is reasonable, and provides better for insurance purposes.  The . fee is the Handling Fee.
