    Description

This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Hiram B. Scutt patent, dated June 18, 1878 This wire is called "Scutt's Small Arrow Plate Barb on Two Gauges of Lines - with Straight & Twisted Lines", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 692-B VARIATION).(Hagemeier shows two wires equally twisted not one straight and the wrapped around the first line). This wire features two twisted together round line wires of different gauges. Heavier guage runs straight and smaller gauge is wrapped around the first line. Barbs are four pointed made from sheet metal. Sheet metal is cut into arrowhead shapes, and then pointed end is split. Barbing points are bent outwards, and barbs placed vertically between the two lines. This sample is 18" in length and has three barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is fairly well centered. Wire shows age wear, with light pitting, and some light bending of barbs. There are no broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in good used condition. There are no off odors. I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings. We will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping, when paid on the same invoice ... using the buy it now option. First wire ships for .50; additional wires are fifty cents each extra. Twelve or more wire ship for free.
