Description
This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Hiram B. Scutt patent, dated June 18, 1878. This wire is called "Scutt's Early Single Clip" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier No. 696-B) This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Barbs are four pointed made from sheet metal. Pointed end of barb is blunt, and has two parallel cuts. Resultant tongue of metal is crimped over one line wire. Sample is 18" in length and has 3 barbs. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. There may be some light bending of points, but there are no broken or missing points.
