    Description

This is a vintage antique sample of wire fencing.   This sample features a Charles D. Rogers patent, dated January 10, 1888.   T
his wire is called "Rogers Large Four Point on Single Highh Tensile Line," by collectors. (ref Hagemeier - 165B VARIATION)( Hagemeier does not show the two sizes of lines and barbing wires used.)   This wire has a single high tensile round line, that is rolled flat between barbs, and left round under barbs.  This configuration was supposed to keep barbs from sliding on the line; and barbs should rotate when accosted by livestock. Barbs are four pointed made by wrapping two round barbing wires together at round spots in line wire.
Wire sample shows very light age and use wear.  Sample is 18" in length, and has four barbs.  Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered.   Sample has no bends, breaks, welds, or repairs.
Last photos show this wire in comparison to the lighter weight of wire also made.
