DESCRIPTION: This is a nice example of a particularly early, large, original photo album, from THE EARLIEST DAYS OF PHOTOGRAPHY, basically loaded full with a variety of large photos, primarily highlighting an early camping and fishing trip.
This is a large
album, containing
24 heavy cardboard pages, with openings for 1 or 2 photos on each side of each page.  Album is about 2/3 full and contains 49 very nice period photos, mostly outdoor shots. Mostly camping, tent, fishing, boating, and outdoor related, also houses and a really neat early horse and carriage holding 6 people, etc., etc.
The album has nice black covers. Designed so that additional pages can be added. T
he album is in very good condition overall, including  binding and covers and pages. There is an original album label in the back identifying it as a Gilson Adjustable Album, Patents 1890 and 1897. MADE AND SOLD BY THE CARTER'S INK CO.
Large album, measuring 11 1/2" x 7" x 2" thick. Some photos measure 4 1/2" x 3 1/2", and some measure 6 1/2" x 4 1/2".
This album has some of the nicest and most unusual photos I have ever seen, and some of the largest for this type of early album!!!  A real variety and done very artistically, not just the average snapshots.
