Description
Low Input Voltage Solar Panel Controller for lead acid and lithuim batteries: Made in USAThe D385 combines the following design elements:
1. Low voltage, high current boost converter typically getting over 94% conversion efficiency. The D385 is so efficient that it doesn’t need a heatsink.
2. Precise MPP tracking. This is critical in a low voltage application because the “sweet spot” of peak MPP output is very small. A typical “12V” standard panel with 36 solar cells will produce nearly constant power from 16.5V to 18.5V, a target almost 2V wide. We can reliably set the MPP to 25mV accuracy.
3. Intelligent multi-chemistry Lithium or Lead acid support. There’s a jumper on the PCB to set which type of battery you’re using.
4. Small Low profile design. The D385 was designed to fit into small J-boxes and the back side of the PCB is flat. You can drop the D385 into a small junction box and epoxy it in place or over mold it.
5. Low Cost. It’s a highly integrated design, we developed the controller IC first, then wrapped a very simple set of power components around it.
