    Description

    This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a Purches Miles patent, dated October 8, 1878.  This wire is called "Miles' Rectangular Gull Wing Staple Barb on One of Two Lines" by coll
    ectors. (ref Hagemeier No.1264-B). This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Barbs are two pointed made from rectangular shaped stock.   Barbs are wrapped once around one line, left in a "gull wing" appearance.   Sample is 18" in length and has four barbs.  Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Sample shows light pitting.   Barbs  show  light bending, but there are no broken or missing points.
