    Description

This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a Purches Miles patent dated October 8, 1878.  This wire is called "Miles Two Point Staple Barb on Alternating Lines" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 456-B). This wire features two twisted together round line wires.   Barbs are two pointed made from a round barbing wire.  Barbing wire is wrapped once around one line wire.  Each line wire is barbed and barbs are in alternating sequence.    Sample is 18" in length.  Samp
le shows light pitting.  There are seven barbs well spaced, and cut is well centered.  There is some bending of barbing points, but no broken, or missing barbing points.
