    Description

    This listing is for an authentic vintage sample of antique barbed wire fencing.   This wire features a John C. Merrill patent, dated December 26, 1876.   This wire is called Merrill's Rusty Four Point Twirl  Light Weight Half Round Barbing Wires on Two Twisted Lines"  by collectors.  (ref. Hagemeier 584-B
    VARIATION
    ).  (Hagemeier states one barbing wire half round the other barbing wire is round - illustration does not depict either as half round).  This wire features two twisted together round line wires.  Line wires are twelve gauge.    Barbs are four pointed, made from two staple shaped half round barbing wires.  Staples are nested together and wrapped around the line wire.    Wire sample is at least 18"  in length.    It shows age and use wear with moderate pitting.  There are three barbs, well spaced, and cut is well centered. There is some bending of points, but no broken, or missing barbs.  Wire is in good used condition.
    This sample of antique barbed wire is absolutely old and authentic and sells with no reserve.  Shipping will be .50, within the United States.   We have listed many other samples of antique fencing and barbed wire, and will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping.   Additional wire purchases, paid on the same invoice, ship for fifty cents each.
