    Description

    This listing is for an authentic vintage sample of antique barbed wire fencing.   This wire features an Ole O. Kittleson patent, dated May 7, 1878.   This wire is called "Kittleson's Large Half Hitch Square Wire Barbs - Wide Spaced - on One of Two Lines" by collectors.  (ref. Hagemeier 444-B).     This wire features two twisted together round line wires.  Barbs are two pointed, made by wrapping a barbing wire around one line wire, and making a half-hitch knot back around the barbing wire.  Barbing wire is flat on both sides, and appears to have been a round wire rolled flat.   Wire sample is at least 18" in length.  Barbs are spaced about 4-1/2" apart.  Wire shows age and use wear, with moderate pitting.  There are four barbs, well spaced, and cut is well centered. There is some bending of points, but no broken or missing points. Wire is in good used condition.
    This sample of antique barbed wire is absolutely old and authentic and sells with no reserve.  Shipping will be .50, within the United States.   We have listed many other samples of antique fencing and barbed wire, and will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping.   Additional wire purchases, paid on the same invoice, ship for fifty cents each.
