    Description

This is a vintage antique sample of patented barbed wire.  This sample features an Orlando Huffman patent, dated December 31, 1889.  This wire is called "Huffman's One Point Friends Parallel on Flat Lines"
by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 213-B).  This wire features two flattened line wires, that run parallel to each other.  Barbs are one pointed made from a round barbing wire, with one point wrapped around one line, and remainder of barbing wire wrapped around both lines.  Barbs are then rolled to hold them in place.  This was an attempt at making a humane wire, and was patented in Friend, Nebraska.    Wire sample is at least 18" in length.  Sample shows age and use wear, with light to moderate pitting.  There are seven barbs, well spaced and cut is well centered. There are no missing or broken barbs.  Wire is in good used condition.
