HAVENHILLS THREE POINT SHEET METAL VEE BARB on 2 LINES - ANTIQUE BARBED WIRE

Description

This is a vintage antique sample of patented barbed wire.  This sample features an Edwin Havenhill patent dated July 2, 1878.  This wire is called "Havenhills Sheet Metal Three Pointed Vee Barb on  Two Lines,"
by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 656-B).   This wire features two twisted together round line wires.  Barbs are three pointed made from a piece of sheet metal cut into an open Vee Shape.  Points of barb are clinched over one line, and second line is laid over the line wire.  Wire sample is at least 18" in length.  Sample shows age and use wear, with light pitting.  There are three barbs, well spaced and cut is well centered. There is light bending of points, but no missing or broken barbs.  Wire is in good used condition.
