GLIDDENS 2-PT SQUARE WIRE BLUNT CUT & COIL WRAPPED BARBS - ANTIQUE BARBED WIRE

Description

This listing is for an authentic vintage sample of antique wire fencing.  This wire features a Joseph F. Glidden patent, dated November 24, 1874.     These wires are called "Glidden's Two Point Square Wire Blunt Cut Barb & Coil Wrapped Barbs on Two Twisted Lines"  by collectors.  (ref. Hagemeier 332-B
VARIATION
).(This Hagemeier No. shows a round coil wrapped barb ... it does not show the square wire barb, no the blunt cut points).   This wire features  two round line wires twisted together.  Sample has some normal  wrapped Glidden Barbs, and some Coil Wrapped Barbs.  Barbs are two pointed made by wrapping a barbing wire twice around one line wire.   Barbing wire is square on round flattened on two sides.   At least one point of each barb is cut blunt.   Wire sample is a minimum of 18" in length.   It shows some age and use wear with light to moderate  pitting.   There are five barbs well spaced, and cut is well centered.   Coiled barbs are randomly placed.   There are no  broken or missing  points.  Wire is in good used condition.
