GLIDDENS 2-PT & SIX STRAND CABLE - BARBS on ROUND LINE - ANTIQUE BARBED WIRE

Description

This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Joseph F. Glidden patent dated November 24, 1874. This wire is called "Gliddens' Two Point Barb on Round Line & Six Strand Cable with Barb on Round Line" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 343-B). This wire features two twisted together line wires. One line is round in cross section, and the other line is a cable comprised of six lightweight lines twisted together. Barbs are on the round line. Barbs are two pointed made from round stock. Barb is wrapped twice around the round line wire. This sample is 18" in length and has six barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows age wear, with light to moderate pitting. There are no bent, broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in good used condition. There are no off odors.
