    Description

This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features an Abram Elwood patent, dated January 31, 1882.  This wire is called "Elwood's Narrow Two Point Spread", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 390-B). This wire features two twisted together round line wires.   Barbs are two pointed made from a round barbing wire.  Barb is inserted between line wires, and points wrapped in opposite directions around opposing line wires.   Sample shows moderate pitting.  Sample is 18" in length and has four barbs.  Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered.   There is some light bending of points, but no broken, or missing barbing points.
