Elegant Pair English Ellis Barker Silverplate Two or Three Light Candelabra
Presented is an elegant pair of antique English silverplate double or triple
light candelabra. These candelabra were made by Ellis Barker and date to circa
1910-1920. The candelabra are made in a low form with elegant swooping arms and
a central flame-form finial. The central socle of each candelabra has this
finial, but they are removable so the candelabra can be used as either two or
three light candelabra. Ellis Barker is a very well known and highly regarded
maker of silver plate, and these are nice weighty candelabra with a thick
sterling silver plating over copper. The bobeches or wax drips are removable for
ease of cleaning, and the bottoms are felted so they will not mar surfaces.
The candelabra are stamped with the maker's mark for Ellis Barker as well as
'Made in England.'
This pair of candelabra is in great condition. The silver plating is in good
shape with no significant bleed through to the copper beneath. There are no
splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each candelabra stands about 7 ½ inches tall at the tallest point, with an
armspan of about 14 inches.
The total weight for the pair is 2805 grams or 98.9 regular ounces.
