    Description

    This listing is for an authentic vintage sample of antique barbed wire fencing.   This wire features a John D. Curtis patent, dated March 15, 1892.   This wire is called "Curtis' Two Point Half Round Twist Lock Inside Grooved  Barb on Flat and Round Lines - with Barb on Flat Line" by collectors.  (ref. Hagemeier  278-B
    VARIATION
    ) (Hagemeir shows the barb on round and flat lines ...... he does not show the interior grooved barb.   This wire features two line wires twisted together.  Non Barbed line is round in cross section; and barbed line has a flat area on two sides.    Barbs are two pointed made from half round stock, with flat side of barb having vertical grooving..   Barb is wrapped once around one line wire, with flat side against line wire.   Points of barbs are twisted inwards 1/4 turn to lock barb to line wire.    Wire sample is 18" in length.    It shows very light age and use wear with minimal pitting.   There are four barbs, well spaced, and cut is well centered. There are no broken or missing barbs.  Wire is in very good used condition.
