    Description

This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features an Arthur S. Burnell patent, dated June 19, 1877. (I have also seen this attributed to a Rudolf Brixner patented dated 1961). This wire is called "Burnell's Hooked Four Point on Two Lines - All Copper Plated", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 519-B)(Hagemeier shows this is a Brixner .. but he also shows the heavy four point hooked used in the Korean War as a Brixner patent - timing does not work). Hagemeier says sold copper ... these are copper plated with a steel core). This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Both line wires are copper plated steel. Barbs are four pointed made from round copper plated steel stock. Points of two barbs are inserted between line wires, and ends hooked together. Remainder of barbing wires are wrapped together around both lines. This sample is 18" in length and has six barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. There is some "Blasting" of barb tips, and some bending of barbing points. Wire shows age wear, with light t pitting. There are no broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in good used condition. There are no off odors. I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings. We will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping, when paid on the same invoice ... using the buy it now option. First wire ships for .50; additional wires are fifty cents each extra. Twelve or more wire ship for free.
