BRINKERHOFFS FLAT UN-TWISTED RIBBON WIRE with LANCE BARBS - ANTIQUE BARBED WIRE

Description

This is a vintage antique sample of patented barbed wire.  This sample features a Jacob Brinkerhoff patent, dated April 8, 1879.  This wire is called "Brinkerhoff's Flat Un-Twisted Ribbon Wire with Lance Cut Applied Barbs
" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 914-B).   This wire features a 3/8" wide flat or un-twisted ribbon wire.   Barbs are made of light weight sheet metal clamped to the ribbon.  Barbs are "Lance" cut with opposing beveled cuts on each barb.   Wire sample is at least 18" in length.  Sample shows age and use wear, with minimal pitting.  There are four barbs, well spaced and cut is well centered. There are no missing or broken barbs.  Wire is in very good used condition.
