    Description

    This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a Jacob and Warren Brinkerhoff patent, dated dated May 7, 1881.  This wire is called "Brinkerhoff's Open Face Barb on Twisted Ribbon" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier No Listing for the twisted ribbon).  This wire features a 3/8" wide twisted ribbon.  Barbs are two pointed made by clamping a sheet metal barb around the ribbon. Wire sample shows very light pitting.  Sample is 18" in length. There are four barbs.  Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered.   There are no broken or missing barbing points.
