    Description

This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features an Orlando P. Briggs patent dated, January 10, 1882. This wire is called "Brigg's Tin Plate Signal Strip Crimped on Parallel Wires", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 9-C). This wire features two round line wires parallel to each other and 1" apart. Lines are held apart by lightweight metal strips crimped around each line. Plates are centered on lines. This wire was intended as a signal or warning strip and was generally the middle line of a three line fence. Sample is 18" in length and has three signal plates. Sample shows light to moderate pitting, and some bending of lines and plate edges. Wire is otherwise in good used condition. There are no off odors. I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings. We will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping, when paid on the same invoice ... using the buy it now option. First wire ships for .50; additional wires are fifty cents each extra. Twelve or more wire ship for free.
