1999 Ovation Acoustic / Electric Cutaway. Model S771 4WGC
This is a made in USA guitar - not Korea or Indonesia, not that there’s anything wrong with that. This one’s in Very Good Condition. Other than some typical play wear (notably around the soundhole), there is little to comment about cosmetically. It’s a very solid and excellent sounding Ovation. None of the top cracks as seen on a lot of Ovations. The finish is satin all around. The neck is very comfy. The action is medium-low and feels fast. Very good clarity and voice!
The only negative item to mention is this: The
onboard
OP24+ pickup system is missing one control button for EQ Status. That's how I received it when I got it a while ago. The function works (it defeats or engages the system EQ). Since this function is always On for me, it didn't bother me. And I am able to activate the function with a toothpick. I realize the picture doesn't show this deficiency clearly.
I had the under saddle transducer replaced with a more dynamic and less ‘piezo’ sounding aftermarket unit ( installed). It also has new ivoroid tuner buttons (), new bone saddle, and a hybrid brass/bone nut ( for those two together installed). This guitar sounds extraordinary compared to other Ovations. If you're local, come and check it out plugged and unplugged. OHSC included, as well as the original gold tuner buttons and UST/saddle (see pics).
