Description
1957 Gretsch 6010 Sun Valley Acoustic Guitar Natural with Hard Case in Good Condition.1957 Gretsch Sun Valley Model 6010
The Model 6010 was a Brooklyn made large, dreadnaught guitar first produced in the late 50s, the model lasted about twenty years and yet there no 50's versions for sale hardly ever.
The body is rosewood ply, and the X-braced top is solid spruce.
The neck is mahogany topped with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard.
The bound headstock has Gretsch inlaid in abalone.
Tuners are original, individual type with metal buttons.
This model has an adjustable truss rod.
To start with, this guitar is 63 years old and looks like it's survived pretty well.
The top appears to have a repaired seam from the bridge to the bottom, stable and not an issue. The bridge was reset. The pickguard was flattened and reglued after some misguided attempts to glue it down over the years, see pix. The back nitrocellulose finish has some bubbliness from a reaction to a former case it was in, see pix.
The playability of this guitar is just fine and the action is perfect for my style of picking, your mileage may vary, see pix. The original factory neckset is working fine but close inspection shows some finish cracking at the joint and slight lifting, someone will be doing something at some point in the future to stabilize this, see pix.
