    Description

Original "Birdseye View of Bisbee,Arizona"Postcard, circa 1917.Showing nice overview of the famous copper mines located there and the town that grew because of the copper, gold and silver mining industry there. The black and white view clearly shows the town of Bisbee, the mines, homes and city buildings, the mountains surrounding the town etc.The original sender of the postcard has hand-written in pencil on the front of the card "Bisbee Arizona,Beatrice".
The message side of the postcard in brown ink says "I suppose we will be home before you get this but I want you to see what a queer town Bisbee is.It is famous for its copper mines. The hills in the picture are all covered with snow now.Beatrice.
The card is addressed to "Miss Alma Shellenberg,2965 Union St.San Diego,Calif".It is postmarked "Bisbee DEC 8:30(cannot make out the exact date as the one cent stamp obscures the rest of the postmark)but circa 1917 as this date corresponds with some of the other postcards in the group of cards that I recently purchased at a local estate sale.
Printed on the left side of the postcard is "Pub.by Central Pharmacy Inc.Brewery Gulch Bird's-eye View of Bisbee,Ariz."Then also printed to the left of the address area is "Post Cards of Quality-The Albertype Co.Brooklyn,N.Y."Printed at the bottom of the card is "This space for Message and This Space for Address".
    Great circa 1917 Bisbee,Arizona postcard.
Actual postcard size is 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches.Condition is near  very good a nice, flat, complete and essentially clean postcard. The view has good clarity and contrast and details can be made out. There is smudging and dustiness in the sky area of the view but the rest of the view is essentially clean and attractive.More pronounced smudging and some browning to back of card, some dustiness etc.The message and address is quite legible and the publisher information is also clear etc.Light wear to card edges and small bend to the lower right corner of the card. The postcard is in quite collectible condition.
This scarce, original, circa 1917 "Bird'seye view of Bisbee,Arizona"postcard would make a nice addition to your early Bisbee,Arizona and Arizona mining history postcard and historical memorabilia collection.
